15 Weapons of Spiritual Warfare

Listen to audio

I think it's time to discuss some things I've learned about or discovered which I believe have worked against demons. This is a compilation of things that you can do by yourself and/or at home. Of course, if you have demons, having an exorcism and getting your home blessed by a priest are advisable also. As far as do-it-yourself spiritual warfare goes, however, this is what I've got. I'm going to put them loosely in order of effectiveness; I say "loosely" because it's a tough call to make with some of these. I'll also do my best to explain, for each item, where to get it and/or how to use it. I've learned all this stuff in the past six months, because I have literally had a fire under my ass. I have connected with some folks on social media who are in about the same proverbial boat that I was in back in December when all this started; so I'm going to try to make it easier for you than it was for me.
This is gonna be a long one.

Okay, here we go.
Weapons of mass demonic destruction:

1. St. Michael's Stone

Oddly, enough, many Catholics don't know about these stones. I ran across this bit of information one day while doing a Google search for something else. I can't remember now what I was looking for, but it was something related to saints or relics. Anyway, I found out about these stones, and I truly felt that St. Michael had guided me to make this discovery.

The images below tell the story of how these stones came to be consecrated and recommended by St. Michael for use as protection from the plague. I've read that they are often used in exorcisms as well. Here's a tip: take it out of the fancy reliquary and hold it. I'll admit, I've worn mine affixed to my arm with a band aid for days at a time. This will make you a lot less pleasant to touch, for demons. Hold it while saying your prayers, or while having an exorcism, to give Satan an extra kick in the pants.

2. Blessed jewelry

For readers who are not Catholic, if you don't know, Catholic priests will bless rosaries, crucifix necklaces, miraculous medallions, medallions of saints, and pretty much any other religiously-themed jewelry, keychain, statue, or other home decoration you might purchase.

As I new Catholic, I can say that I've noticed a few taboos about these types of blessed items, which are called sacramentals. One of the taboos is that, some say you shouldn't wear your rosary as a necklace. The other is that, according to a lot of articles I've read, the Catholic church seems to abhor any connotation these types of items might have with magic or amulets. These articles admonish that sacramentals are not to be thought of as magical amulets for protection. I don't quite understand that particular concern. I'd say that as long as you understand that you still have to live a Christian life; that you can't simply put those items on and think that you've got a free pass to do anything you want and still be protected --merely because you are wearing a blessed item-- then you've got nothing to worry about. I have noticed a difference in that I'm less affected by demon, and I'm less often and less severely attacked by demon, when I wear these items. To me, that is magical!

Crucifix pendants, medallions of saints, and other religiously-themed jewelry can be found for a few dollars per item on Etsy and Ebay.

3. Praying the Rosary

I feel a little bit bad that this is number 3 on the list. The only reason it is number 3, is because you can't realistically go around praying the rosary all the time.
For the specific purpose of fighting demons who've already infested your home or possessed you, wearing a St. Michael stone or some other blessed jewelry might create a longer-lasting peaceful environment, and these items can go with you wherever you go. They might help you can carry on with your daily activities, which is harder than you can imagine if you've never had a demon. I'm not saying that prayer can't have lasting effects as well, though, just to be clear; and of course you can pray anywhere also. You just can't pray all the time. Also, you can wear your relics or blessed items --or your rosary-- while you sleep, or hang them on your rearview mirror, or carry then in a pocket or purse. Rosaries can be purchased online on Etsy, Ebay, and various other online stores. They can range in price from a few to a few hundred dollars. Sometimes they are given away at churches.

The rosary is recommended by many Holy men as a powerful weapon against Satan.

Here's an instructional video on how to pray the rosary.

4. Holy water

Holy water can be sprinkled anywhere really; in a home, in a car, on a bed, or around pets. To give your entire house a little more consecration and make it a place where demons will not love to be, sprinkle in every room. While doing this, I always say,
"In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.
I banish all evil spirits from this property in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

Here are some tips about the use of Holy water:

Drink it! As long as you feel it's safe to do so, depending upon factors such as where the water was gathered and how long it has been bottled. There may sometimes be concerns about bacteria.

Carry a little spray bottle, and spray it on yourself! For clarity, my reasoning behind this is that, if the demon is 'in' me at the moment, this should make my body an unpleasant place for him to inhabit. And, even if he's not 'in' me, this should make my body more sanctified, at least temporarily, so that he doesn't want to return to it.

5. Sage

White sage is reportedly best, and the only kind I've used. I bought some at a new age store. I have also bought a bundle of sage, not white sage, mixed with botanicals, at Walmart. I have not used it yet, though. I didn't think it would work; but it's worked as well as anything else I've tried. It seems to not last very long, however. Very effective while it's burning and soon after, while the scent still lingers. The lingering effects possibly last up to a few days. To use it, leave it tied, and light one end on fire, then blow it most of the way out, to the point where it's smoldering like a cigarette. One bundle should be enough to sage a home multiple times, unless it's a huge home.

Most people will say to open a door, and start in the corner of your home farthest from that door, working your way towards that door with the intention of "pushing the negativity out." That might not apply so much when we're talking about getting a demon out of your home. They are "ghosts." They can simply fly through a wall, or hide in the attic; so there's no need to drive them out through an opened door. I actually think it's better to try to keep the smoke contained inside the house; because I think that, with demons, this works only because they don't like the smell of it. (Kind of like the burning of a fish's heart and liver that is used in the book of Tobit.) I think this is one of those things that creates an unpleasant environment for demon. I could be wrong about that; that's just my theory. You could also burn the heart and liver of a fish; but I haven't tried that, and I imagine that the sage smells better to humans than that would.

6. Blessed salt

This is regular table salt, blessed by a priest. Possibly some other types of salt are used sometimes; but I know that regular table salt will work. Blessed salt can be eaten. Demon will hate that. Aside from that, it is used much like Holy water; sprinkled around an area. There are situations where salt might be more ideal, and situations where water might, simply because of the solid versus liquid state.

Blessed salt can be sprinkled around a home, a yard, a pet area, a bed, or anything else, to form a barrier that will be unpleasant for demon to cross. (Bonus: salt, whether blessed or not, will also kill weeds and deter fleas from crossing the salt line.)

Blessed salt, because of it's non-liquid state, can be used in some ways which Holy water can not. I've mentioned that I stashed small containers of it under my mattress and in my pillowcases. I'd suggest doing this in any area, or any piece of furniture where demon is causing trouble. Another thing I've done is stow little packets of it inside jewelry, such as inside a locket. Additionally, I keep a small container of it on my bedside table; and a few times when demon has been bothering me in bed, I've simply grabbed that container and stuck my finger down in the salt. This has proven effective. As with the Holy water, the point here is to make yourself less desirable to demons.

7. Hang around animals!

I believe that dogs and cats, and probably all mammals, are protectors for us humans.

My cats stay in my house or on my porch all the time, and my dogs have a fenced area in my yard. Back in December, right after I did the EVPs and got really scared, I felt stalked by something. This was before I could hear the demon talking to me, so this was merely a sensing of an evil presence. Every time I went outside, I felt like something was chasing me. For a brief period of time, at least, I was literally running back and forth from my car to my house. I noticed, however, that if I went into the fenced area where my dogs were, I felt safe. I would feel like something had been right on my heels until the moment I stepped through that gate, and then I felt safe. I wondered if it was the dogs, or the fence itself. I remember a friend telling me that it might be the iron in the fence, because demons, according to legend, are supposed to dislike iron.

One day I was watching some Mythology type stuff on YouTube as part of my research, because I happen to think now that pretty much all myths are true; but that's another story for another day. Anyway, I came across a video which was titled something like "Wolves; the natural enemies of the Jinn." Knowing that dogs are wolves, and having already made the connection that Jinn are demons, I knew, before I even watched the video, that the dogs must have been the reason I felt safe inside the fence with them.

Now, one thing that has always been true about demon is that he generally only tells me stuff that I already know. He seems to wait until I've read about something, and then he will talk about it; usually trying to enforce or dissuade the opinion I've formed about what I have just learned. He's even said that he's not supposed to talk to me about anything that I don't already know about. So, this is one of the many reasons that I don't trust what demon says, unless it happens to make a lot of sense or I have discerned it some other way also. Anyway, after I learned about the belief that wolves are enemies of the Jinn, demon started referring to my dogs as "demon-eating hounds."

For a month or so now, I've had a salt line around my dogs' fence and blessed crucifixes hanging on the fence. Recently, I have, on several occasions, actually seen an apparition depart from me before I enter into the dogs' fence. The first time I saw it, demon said,
"You should not have seen that! But yes, that was this demon leaving you, so you can spend time with those demon-eating hounds."
I have seen the apparition float back to me after leaving their fenced area also.
Is this the blessed salt and crucifixes, the dogs themselves, or just another demonic ruse? I can't say for sure; but I feel that it's the dogs themselves as much as anything because of the fact that I always felt safer with them even before I knew about the legend and before I had any blessed items out there.

I can also say that I have seen my dogs look in the direction that I have heard whispering coming from. I have also seen them look at "nothing" and growl. My cats have also heard the whispering. One of my cats has recently taken to sleeping on the pillow beside my head, watching over me protectively. The other one has taken to sleeping under the bed. I am certain that they all see and hear this demon, and that they don't like it bothering their mother. I'm very grateful for their love and protection. I really do have a monster under my bed; or rather, in the mattress. But I also have an angel under my bed, and another one resting her head right beside mine. What devotion. I am blessed.

8. Anointing oil

This is olive oil, sometimes with other ingredients added, which has been blessed by a priest. For use against demon, it's good to put on the forehead before prayer, or on the hands, feet, arms, and legs before bed. Just get a little bit of it on your finger and draw a cross on your skin with it (starting point, then down, then left to right), while saying,
"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
I've noticed that, applied to my limbs, it helps in preventing demon from touching me in bed. On my forehead, it has helped to prevent demon from messing with me during prayer.

Being "messed with" during prayer is one of the types of demonic attacks I've experienced. This happens in several different ways. One thing demon likes to do is mentally interrupt me during prayer. He likes to think blasphemous or outright dirty thoughts to me, so that then I 'think' them also, as I hear demon's words in my mind. Of course, I know it's demon, and I'm certain that God does also; but still, it's disrespectful of demon. Demon has also touched me, and at times even assaulted me while I'm in the midst of praying.

Another thing that has happened is that I've nearly fallen asleep during prayer; or perhaps I actually have fallen asleep for a moment. I have definitely lost consciousness for a moment; yet, when I "awaken," I'll still be saying the words. I won't remember where I was, however; and my place on the rosary beads will be the only way I ever figure out where I am. I have actually read that this can be a positive thing. Some holy men have written about a phenomenon similar to this; and they seem to think that, for them anyway, it's merely a sign that they're so comforted by the presence of God that they fall asleep. Some have said that this is the result of becoming so deeply immersed in the meditation that a different level of consciousness is achieved. I don't know what to think. For me, it doesn't seem to happen if I anoint myself before prayer.

9. Get yourself a saint! (Or ten!)

As I've mentioned, my patron Saints are St. Michael the Archangel, St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Benedict of Nursia. I chose them because they all resonated with me in some way. St. Michael, obviously, as the leader of the angelic army, is a wonderful ally for anyone who is fighting Satan. I figured that if I was looking for the Saint who could kick Satan the hardest, I needed to look no further than St. Michael. St. Francis appealed to me because of his love for animals. I read about him preaching to the animals, and thought that sounded exactly like something I would do. He was also a very holy man who received the stigmata. St. Benedict is known for having been an exorcist. His medallion bears letters which stand for the words of this exorcism prayer:

Crux sacra sti mihi lux!
Nanquam draco sit mihi dux!
Vade retro Santana!
Nanquam suade mihi vana!
Sunt mala quae libas.
Ipse venena bibas!

In English, that is:

May the holy cross be my light!
May the dragon never be my guide!
Begone Satan!
Never tempt me with your vanities!
Evil are the things thous profferest,
Drink thou thine own poison.

St. Francis of Assisi's Prayer Before a Crucifix:

Most high, glorious God,
enlighten the darkness
of my heart and give me Lord,
a correct faith, a certain hope,
a perfect charity, sense and knowledge,
so that I may carry out
Your holy and true command.

Prayer to St. Michael for protection:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Here's an instructional video on how to pray St. Michael's Chaplet.

10. Be around other people; any people (pretty much) will do. If they'll pray with you, that's even better!

I believe in the power of group prayer. Also, I've noticed that demon is much quieter when I'm around other people. He'll make a comment here and there; but for the most part, he'll back off and I'll get to enjoy my company. I don't think this means that demon has manners, necessarily; I think he is either interested in eavesdropping on my conversation, not wanting to draw attention to himself, or he is taking a break also.

Still, if you need to feel somewhat normal again, hang out with someone. I think that the past year or more of Covid-19 shutdowns and restrictions made the world a playground for demons. Churches were closed, Catholic churches didn't have Holy water (mine still doesn't), and people were isolated. I have mentioned that I live alone. I go for days at a time without seeing or speaking to another living person. For me, there's a drastic difference in demon's activity when I'm around other people. If you're around other people most of the time, you might not notice that big of a change.

11. Going to church or consecrated ground

Well, I've already told about my experience with visiting my town's historic chapel in the early days of my possession. That seemed to have no effect. Going to services or even classes at my regular church seems to have a weakening effect on demon; although he can run away, put up a front and act like it didn't bother him, or send "Satan himself" to church with me. My veterinarian's office, however, also kicks his ass.

If you're thinking that sounds a bit odd, let me explain that my veterinarian is a minister. My kiddos have been patients there for years, and I'd always known that he was a minister; but of course, I never thought much about it when I wasn't religious. Well, I've told the story of going there during the day that I was probably the most possessed and was seeing apparitions everywhere. The next time I went there --so, the second time I was there since having demons-- I was feeling sick and getting a bad headache. It was the second time that I've known for certain that demon was making me sick. I took some Excedrin Migraine before I walked in; but that would have taken a while to kick in. As soon as I walked into the building, I felt better. I was called back quickly, and just a few minutes later, while my pet and I were waiting for the doctor, I noticed that I felt totally better. I was no longer sick at all! I thought,
"This can't be that Excedrin working this quickly..."
Then I noticed that demon was oddly silent. Remembering that my veterinarian is a minister, it suddenly occurred to me that he might have blessed the facility. I thought,
"Oh. My. Gosh. That's probably it. This place is blessed!"
Demon replied then, angrily, yet very faintly,
"It's consecrated!"
So, why didn't it have that affect the first time, when I was uber-possessed? I can only guess that maybe he'd done it between those visits. I didn't ask him. I didn't know how I would explain why I had noticed it.

Anyways, it might not make a demon leave you alone forever; but if you need some temporary respite, you might find it on hallowed ground.

12. Exorcism prayers

Reciting exorcism prayers hasn't worked so well when I'm on my own, but they probably get some attention from upstairs. I think they're far more powerful when prayed by someone else on your behalf, or when someone else prays with you. I do think my CD of exorcism prayers helps somewhat. It's no miracle worker; but at the same time, I'm not turning it off either!

I have tried all sorts of prayers. I have read African prayers, still addressed to God, which call for the divorce from spirit spouses. I asked God beforehand to forgive me if anything I try is wrong or offensive to Him, explaining that I'm only trying to get rid of demon. After all, this demon did say he wanted to marry me, and that seems to be a concept that the Africans understand very well, while I have not heard anything like that from the Catholics. Again, however, I will mention that, in demon-speak, I think "marriage" is a metaphor for "possession."

I have a playlist of exorcism prayers on my YouTube channel, and I'll share some links to some at the end of this post as well.

13. Get your head right.
Resist the devil, know that you are saved and safe, go on with your life, be happy, and LOVE!

This is basically my "steps to self-deliverance." I have three now; the third being the part about going on with your life, being happy, and loving. There are more than three, obviously, because I have not achieved deliverance yet; but these things have helped.

Have you ever been to a haunted house Halloween attraction? Meaning here, a fake haunted house where actors are dressed up and they jump out and scare you? If you can get through one of those; you can get through this. Demons are like the spooks at a haunted house; they're scary, they're creepy, and they might startle you. They can't do much more than that, though. At least, that has been my experience. Ask God, your angels, and your saints to protect you and your home and loved ones, and take every precaution you can; but then believe that you are safe. And yes, pray, go to church, have exorcisms, and work on reforming your life or whatever it is that you think you need to do; but don't let demons take over your life. Don't let them steal your joy.

Personally, I'm probably guilty of spending too much time on this blog when I should have been doing other things. That's why I've slowed down somewhat; and also why I'm trying to have some fun with it. It is a little bit of a different situation for me, however; because I believe that THIS is what I'm supposed to do. I have asked God to accept this as a service, and to guide me.

Also, I have made an "Inspirational Stuff" playlist which I hope will be uplifting to anyone who views it; and a "Myself and Others Making Fun of Demons" playlist which I hope will put a smile on your face.

That reminds me that I have not yet explained why I think it's okay to make fun of demons. Well, that's my choice; you should do whatever you think is right. In Luke chapter 10, verses 17-20, we read:

17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, “LORD, in your name even the demons submit to us!”
18 He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning.
19 See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you.
20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
(New Revised Standard Version)

It would seem that Jesus advises against making fun of demons. My situation is different, however. I, unlike the apostles, have obviously not been given the authority to command demons, or else they'd be burning in Hell like I tell them to every day. If they would do that, I wouldn't need to make fun of them anymore. Also, those guys, unlike myself, did not have demons sleeping in their beds and touching them during prayer (at least not that I know of)! These demons came around here uninvited. They invaded my mind and wreaked havoc on my life. They make fun of me. They make fun of all humans, but most people can't hear it. What am I supposed to do? Be polite? Ask them to
"Please go burn in Hell forevermore?"
I don't think that would be any more effective. I won't treat them better than they treat me, because they are not better than me. I won't treat them kindly because they are the enemy of my God. That's just how I feel about it.

14. Reciting any prayer, or reading scripture

I suggest reading from the gospels, especially the words of Jesus. I'm Catholic now, but I still have my "King's James Version with the words of Christ in red" from my childhood. That's handy. Demons probably don't like to hear any scripture; but they're going to be the most affected by Jesus's words.

15. Blessed candles, crucifixes, icons, other blessed items placed throughout the home, or burning frankincense and myrrh.

By blessed, I mean, blessed by a priest, of course; and frankincense can be purchased as a resin incense sometimes. It can be purchased as a stick incense at just about any place that sells incense, including Walmart. I've seen myrrh stick incense at Walmart also; and I've purchased myrrh oil at a new age type store. I'll link some online sources. I plan to use the myrrh oil to scent candles that I will burn during prayer. I am not sure why frankincense and myrrh are supposed to be effective; I've only heard that. I can't really say for sure that they work. I've tried burning them as incense, and I didn't perceive a difference in demon, but that doesn't mean that it didn't, in fact, make a difference. I know that they, as well as gold, were the gifts of the three wise men to baby Jesus and that frankincense is used in churches.

This is last on the list because I feel that these items, incense and icons, are limited in their effectiveness. They help create an atmosphere that will be unpleasant for the demon; especially if they are blessed, or if they lift your spirit by making you think of God or Heaven. But, with icons, unless they are blessed, and they actually touch the demon, they're probably not going to keep a demon away from you. Again, I think that some people forget, or don't quite understand, that demons are spirits. They're "ghosts." They can walk through walls, etc. So, if you have a blessed crucifix hanging on a wall, then they might not walk through that particular wall, but they'll just walk through a different wall. Still, I'd recommend getting every blessed icon you can get your hands on.

One thing they might do, if you're not too late, like I was, and already have demons in your home or in your body, is to send a message to any demons who might be passing by. As I was placing the blessed crucifixes on my dogs' fence, demon said,
"That... is not beautiful to look upon, for demons. But that would not keep us away, if we wanted to bother your hound doggies. But... what that does is, that says us that you love those little mongrels so fucking much, and Heaven help anybody who would do them any harm. ...And, of course, Heaven wouldn't help us bitches, would they? So, there you go."
